Charlotte Airport Parking Guide: Cheapest to Closest Options at CLT

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is one of the busiest airports in the United States, and its car parks fill up fast around weekends and holidays. The good news is that CLT has options for every budget, from shuttle lots that cost about half the price of the closest deck, to valet that drops you at the door.

This guide compares every official parking option at Charlotte airport, explains who each one suits, and shows you how to avoid the most common (and expensive) mistakes.

Quick answer:

  • Cheapest: Long Term Lot 1 or Long Term Lot 2 (free shuttle to the terminal)
  • Closest: the Hourly Deck (walk straight to the terminal)
  • Best middle ground: the Daily Decks (covered parking, short shuttle ride)
  • Picking someone up: the free Cell Phone Lot

Charlotte Airport Long Term Parking (Lots 1 and 2)

If you’re away for more than a couple of days, the Long Term Lots are the cheapest official parking at CLT, at roughly half the price of the Daily Decks.

Both lots are on Josh Birmingham Parkway as you drive toward the terminal: Long Term Lot 1 is on the right (just south of the Cell Phone Lot) and Long Term Lot 2 is on the left. Free shuttles run continuously between shelters in each lot and the terminal.

Good to know:

  • Long Term Lot 1 is reservation-only. You must book online at parkclt.com or in the CLT Airport app — you can’t just drive in.
  • Long Term Lot 2 is credit card only.
  • Allow an extra 15–20 minutes for parking and the shuttle, especially on a busy morning.

Daily North Lot

The Daily North Lot sits between Long Term Lot 2 and the Daily Decks, on the left of Josh Birmingham Parkway. It costs a little more than the long-term lots but is closer to the terminal, which means a shorter shuttle ride. It’s an open-air lot with free continuous shuttles, and payment is credit card only.

Best for: trips of a few days when you want a slightly faster getaway than the long-term lots.

CLT Daily Decks (Covered Parking)

The Daily Decks are two multi-level parking garages on the left as you approach the terminal. Follow the signs for Parking/Daily/Hourly and keep left for the Daily entrance. A free shuttle runs from the shelter between the two decks.

Because they’re covered, the Daily Decks are the pick if you’re leaving your car in summer heat or a winter storm, or you just don’t want to scrape ice off the windscreen when you land.

Height limits: 8’4″ at the entrance and first level, but only 7 feet on upper levels. If you have a roof box or a tall van, check before you drive in.

Express Decks (Self-Park and Preferred)

The two Express Decks are off-terminal garages at the corner of Wilkinson Boulevard and Harlee Avenue (entrance on Harlee Ave). Dedicated shuttles run non-stop between the decks and the terminal’s lower level at Zone 2. When you land, exit through the Baggage Claim/Lower Level doors and head to the Zone 2 Express Deck stop.

Good to know:

  • Both Express Decks are online booking only (parkclt.com or the CLT app).
  • Entry is by licence plate recognition. If the gate doesn’t open, scan the QR code in your booking confirmation.
  • Maximum vehicle height is 7’6″.
  • Changed in July 2026: Express Deck Preferred used to be a valet service. Since 1 July 2026 it’s a standard self-park deck, and valet has moved to the Hourly Deck (see below).

CLT Hourly Deck (Closest Parking)

The Hourly Deck is the only option where you can walk to the terminal, via bridges or lower-level walkways. The first 15 minutes are free, so it works for quick drop-offs and meeting arrivals at the door. After that it’s charged by the hour up to a daily maximum, which makes it the most expensive self-park option for overnight trips.

Good to know:

  • Hourly parking is on Levels 4–7 (Levels 1–3 are the rental car centre).
  • EV charging is available on Levels 4, 5 and 6.
  • Maximum vehicle height is 7 feet. Credit card only.

Best for: stays of a few hours, or travellers who value walking to the terminal above everything else.

Valet Parking at Charlotte Airport

CLT’s valet runs 24/7 from Level 1 of the Hourly Deck. The valet entrance is the last exit on the left before you reach the terminal — follow the Valet Parking signs. Hand your keys to an attendant and walk straight in.

Returning: call valet on 704.629.8111, or go to the Valet office through the sliding doors near the end of the east underground walkway on the terminal’s lower level.

Good to know:

  • Book online at least 3 hours ahead. Drive-up is available if online booking is sold out.
  • Vehicles must be under 7 feet tall.

Picking Someone Up? Use the Free Cell Phone Lot

Don’t circle the terminal or pay for the Hourly Deck while you wait. The Cell Phone Lot is free and sits on Josh Birmingham Parkway on the right as you approach the terminal, next to Long Term Lot 1. Wait there until your passenger has their bags, then drive to the arrivals curb.

The only rule: you must stay with your vehicle.

Off-Airport Parking Near Charlotte Airport

Several private lots around CLT run their own shuttles to the terminal. They can be cheaper than the official lots for longer trips, and some include extras like covered spaces or car washes. The trade-off is a longer shuttle ride and checking each operator’s pickup frequency.

The easiest way to compare them is a booking site that shows live prices and lets you reserve a guaranteed space:

Popular options include SpotHero, Way.com and Cheapest Airport Parking, all of which let you compare lots near CLT and book a guaranteed space in advance.

How to Save Money on CLT Parking

  1. Book online before you go. CLT says online booking guarantees your space and can save money compared with drive-up rates. Savings vary by date and length of stay.
  2. Book early for holidays. When a facility shows “Booked” or “Reservation Only”, drive-up spaces are full — but drivers with a booking still get in.
  3. Don’t leave it to the same day. CLT warns that same-day booking may be limited for all products.
  4. Match the lot to the trip length. The longer the trip, the more the gap between the Long Term Lots and the decks adds up. For a week away it’s a meaningful saving.
  5. Check the promo code box. The CLT booking form has a promo code field. It’s worth a quick search before you pay.

Parking vs Uber or Lyft: Which Is Cheaper?

For short trips, rideshare is often cheaper than parking. For longer trips, parking usually wins. A simple way to decide:

Rideshare cost = your one-way fare × 2 (there and back) Parking cost = daily rate × number of days

If the parking total is lower, drive. Rideshare pickups at CLT are on the arrivals (lower) level at Zone 4.
